Preah Vihear province is home to several stunning Angkorian temple complexes, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Preah Vihear Temple, situated on a plateau near the Thai border. Other historical sites include the ancient capital of Koh Ker with its beautiful pyramid-shaped main temple and the jungle temple of Preah Khan of Kampong Svay.
The province also boasts some beautiful natural attractions and eco-tourism sites, including the isolated conservation area around BeTreed deep in the forests, which is a wonderful spot for hiking, wildlife- and bird watching.
Please keep in mind that despite such a wide range of attractions, Preah Vihear province is off the tourist track, and public transportation is very limited. While the provincial capital Tbeng Meanchey, and Sra Em, the closest town to Preah Vihear temple, are connected to other major towns of Cambodia, most sites can only be reached with private transportation.
